I gave up retreats a long time ago. All I need is a goal, a good chair writing utensils, and a window that looks outside--so a brick wall wouldn't count.

Early early morning seems to match much of my criteria for retreat. Pre-dawn, dawn, peace, a sense of secrecy, nature stirring, nothing cluttering the thoughts. As a friend said “ before the day gets its claws into you.”

Yes to the dark! And there's something about going through the rest of the day knowing you have done this--spent this time with your words--before going on with all that other stuff.

You're welcome! It's been a busy time with moving here. But I've made it THE morning thing to write. Even if it means getting up early... Margie's good chair, and Andrew's pre-dawn dark!
