It is in the little things. And making it habitual. Or if unable to do that, making time for it now and then. The plan for unplanned :)
I was visiting my mom yesterday, and even with the nip in the air, I suggested we have our lunch and tea in her "wood shed"... which we did. With her health these days, every day feels to be special.
It really is. I have to say that's one of the things I most love about your newsletter, Jolene: you take so many pieces and put them together, the pleasures of a day, and of a time, and a place. A reminder to cherish moments, people, and the things that contribute to creating such!
Well, the idea of having lunch and tea in the wood shed--your use of quotes suggests maybe a it's actually a porch--made me laugh with the freshness of it!
And thanks for what you said about the magicmonday newsletter! I must say it surprised me when it took on that very definite direction. But I thought hey, who am I to argue?
That "I wonder..." is absolutely writing. So is experiencing life and taking the time to reflect, to take in sensations, to daydream about how things may have gone differently. You are spot on!
Ha! Walked or biked to work before retiring, and often saw odd, funny, angering moments on the way. Would blurt them out - especially the amusing ones - when I got to work. Biggest response from co-workers? "Ump." Not always wise to share your daily moments of joy.
One thing I love about my neighbourhood is that people respond when you say or share something. I realize this is rare, and treasure it. If I'm walking to the library with an armload of books someone will comment or ask if there's something they should read! It makes the day interesting... Your work-mates did not know this! They missed out.
Thanks for sharing. Hope you took out the gas stove and enjoyed the season. Loved the idea of the secret apartment.
I'm seeing less films than I usually do--a time thing, really. But when I read the description, I had to see it. Better than I expected.
Alison, I really enjoy the idea of taking an ordinary day and doing something unplanned, making it special!

Your "Monday" newsletter has that sense to it!

You made my day, Alison, thank you so much! 🤗

I had a couple requests to see the woodshed. I had to add a photo to the post!
And you really can't argue about surprises!

Love the shed photo. A picture's worth a thousand words.
She sits out there, sun, rain, wind, in the evening... and her blood pressure goes down. The out of doors has to be the best medicine.
I love the picture of your mom in her special place. I'm glad to hear she is doing better. Look after your self as well. xo
Thank you, Darlene--much appreciated!
