Unrelated to poetry, but my gosh, would I ever love to have the recipe for the soup featured in the photo up top! I stew (pun intended) over ideas very often when cooking/preparing food and always up to trying out new recipes!

It does look to be loaded with all the stuff one needs on a cold day! Looks like my grandmother's, too, always with tomato.

I trust all is well--you are due soon!! Which is both unrelated and very closely related to poetry...

Poetry as nourishment — yes!

I recently returned to John Berryman's Dream Songs. One problem with those songs is that the repetition of the form and his esoterics can make you read a poem and not read the poem, just to turn the page. So this year I decided I'd ready only 1 poem each day, and read it a few times over to really let the poem in. It has helped my understanding of those poems so much. I'm beginning to think I'll do that to almost any book of poetry.

I love these posts.

Glad to hear that--about the posts.

And this is such a strong point. One a day, savoured.

Thanks, James!

So loving A Poet’s Craft! I have been absent with some mind-bending family stuff, but have gradually pulled myself back in. I am working on the ‘Good Poem Scouting Expedition’ from pg 39 - so plan to be well-fed, here. I have not chosen my 7-day ‘read me’ poem but expect that will happen soon. That is such a good idea, and very good for me as I need to slow it down...

Oh... Sorry to hear about the mind-bending family stuff. Here's to slowing-it-down... Good to see you here, Elizabeth!

Hi.

I was just looking through Substack for the first time and I came across this page.

How refreshing because, as it happens, I'm a passionate reader and writer of poetry.

I just love it. it is my evening relaxation and nightcap before bed.

I'm Pakistani by birth and have been a citizen of the UK for over four decades, so I'm bilingual.

I love reading English poetry and also Urdu poetry. I also write in both languages.

I'd love to keep in touch with all you people. And I was thinking of joining Substack to share my poems and thoughts on poetry.

So let's see how it goes. I'll be in touch again soon.

My name is Sohail Akhtar Aadil.

Welcome, Sohail! I'm curious: do you ever combine English and Urdu within the same poem?
