Hello Unschool Writers!
There are a handful of dedicated picturebook writers in our midst! Please identify yourselves, hands in the air… (needed immediately to resuscitate Imagination over here…!)
Seriously, we are going to start a group.
I’ve written a number of pieces about this form of writing—a challenging one that brings delight with it. I will give the links below.
If you are a beginner with this form, do read this post of basics (or a re-read).
No matter what your “level” of writing, as long as you are dedicated to learning and to offering thoughtful feedback, you are welcome to join the group:
Here’s how we’ll do this:
all work will be posted in the Unschool Workshop Space (which means you email the manuscript to me, so I can post it with a comment thread).
the maximum length you can submit is 1000 words. Optimally, a PB ends up between 200-600 words. Generally, the shorter the better. But first drafts are often 1000.
if interested, let me know and pass along the email you use here, as I’ll be sending out extra notification when posts are made (Substack seems to miss this piece now and then!)
as always, the Workshop Space is for paid subscribers only. A closed group maintains privacy for posting work.

And on workshopping process:
Please let me know if you have any questions. Feel free to post in comments; if you have the question, most likely others do too!
Send me your work:

I am looking forward to this!
Alison
I would love to participate as it's a genre I have been working on for years with v. little success.
Count me in!
