Puppy Love
I wrote a poem, he told her. About the puppy. He read aloud:
So cute
So sweet
Such a pretty little girl
Red of tooth and claw pretty little girl
Gnawer of table legs
Chewer of electrical cords
Devourer of shoes
She said nothing. Now he’s writing poetry, she thought.
